WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – Sole possession of first place in the Mountain East Conference volleyball race will be on the line Tuesday night when Ohio County rivals West Liberty and No. 20-ranked Wheeling Jesuit collide in a 7 p.m. match on the Cardinals' home floor.
Both teams are unbeaten in MEC action this fall with Coach
Kayla Mull's Hilltoppers bringing a 17-4 overall mark to the McDonough Center while the host Cardinals check in at 18-3.
The teams are no strangers to each other as Tuesday's midseason showdown is also a rematch of last year's MEC Tournament championship thriller that saw Wheeling Jesuit come from behind in the fifth set to hand the Black and Gold a heartbreaking 3-2 loss.
Coach Mull took a few minutes to talk with hilltoppersports.com about handling the buzz surrounding this much-anticipated match.
