WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – The West Liberty University volleyball team has joined with the Side-Out Foundation and its Dig Pink® initiative in the fight against breast cancer.
The Lady Hilltoppers have designated Friday's 6 p.m. home match against Notre Dame (Ohio) as their Dig Pink® match, highlighting the team's fundraising efforts in support of the cause.
The team will be selling special T-shirts and collecting donations throughout the match. A special 50-50 drawing will also be conducted with all proceeds from the event going to The Side-Out Foundation.
Dig Pink® is a nationwide movement to provide meaningful and impactful experiences for athletes while inspiring and empowering them to come together in support of the stage IV breast cancer community. Each year, hundreds of teams across the country (and some overseas) participate in Dig Pink®. Through programs like Dig Pink, Side-Out is harnessing the power and influence of sport to impact change by funding Side-Out's very own clinical trial The Side-Out Protocol.
Through Side-Out's programs, the volleyball community sponsors clinical trials at renowned medical institutions across the country. The Side-Out Protocol uses a unique approach that is successfully extending the lives of those living with stage IV breast cancer - the most advanced form of the disease and the least funded area of research.
