Box Score     WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – The West Liberty University women's volleyball team came from behind to hand Shippensburg a 3-1 loss here Saturday as the MEC/PSAC Crossover event concluded its two-day run at the ASRC.
    The Red Raiders (6-5) got off to a fast start with a 25-16 win in the opening set but Coach Kayla Mull's Hilltoppers (7-6) took control of the match with back-to-back 25-21 decisions before finishing strong in the fourth set to close things out with a 25-22 verdict.
    Caitlin Clarke had a double-double to lead West Liberty with a dozen kills and 15 digs. Raimey Benson also hit double-figures with 10 kills and 4 blocks while Sydney Scherer impressed with 7 kills and a match-high 6 blocks.
    Kendall Souder and Renee Lemke chipped in with 21 and 17 assists, respectively, while Kailee Cunningham led all players with 25 digs.
    The win allowed WLU to salvage a split on the day as Clarion (9-3) handed the Hilltoppers a 3-0 loss in the last match of the evening.
    Clarke had another strong match for the Black and Gold with 10 kills while Benson chipped in with 8 kills and 4 blocks but it wasn't enough to hold off the Golden Eagles, who pulled out a 25-23 nod in the first set before wrapping up the sweep by scores of 25-19 and 25-15.
    Souder and Lemke had 15 and 12 assists, respectively, for the hosts while Cunningham was charted with 24 digs in a losing cause.
    The Hilltoppers will be back in action on Tuesday when they head to Salem International for a 7 p.m. match.
