WLU, Glenville Trade Shutout Wins

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 GLENVILLE, W.Va. – West Liberty and Glenville State traded 5-0 shutout wins here Saturday in a Mountain East Conference doubleheader at the Sue Morris Complex.
Coach Herb Minch's Hilltoppers (12-22, 6-16) won the first game only to see the host Pioneers (13-28, 7-15) return the favor in the second contest.
Savannah Sieger and Linda Hall combined on a 2-hit shutout and West Liberty scored at least once in each of the first four innings in coasting to victory in the opener.
Sieger had four strikeouts and no walks in blanking the Pioneers over the first five frames with Hall tossing two innings of no-hit relief to finish off the win.
Sydney Bennington doubled, singled and chased home a run for the Hilltoppers while Nicki Mihalik and Kaitlyn Gilkey each added two singles and an RBI. Nicole Chris and Kaitlyn Higginbotham also weighed in with RBI base knocks.
Glenville plated three first-inning runs in the second game and that proved to be more than enough for Pioneer pitcher Ally Brown, who held WLU to just three hits while striking out two and giving up just one walk.
Mihalik and Julie Tenney each had a double for the Black and Gold.
West Liberty goes back on the road Wednesday for a non-conference doubleheader at Salem International.
