KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The regionally-ranked West Liberty University men's tennis team breezed to an 8-1 victory against Kutztown here Saturday in non-conference action at the Keystone Courts.
It was the 10th win in the last 11 matches for Coach
Sam McCullough's surging Hilltoppers (13-5) – No. 2 in the latest set of NCAA Division II Atlantic Region rankings – while the Golden Bears suffered their 11th loss in 13 outings.
West Liberty got doubles wins from
Baptiste Perrin and
Santiago Gutierrez at the No. 1 slot along with the No. 3 doubles tandem of
Pablo Cimorra and
Camilo Moncayo to take a 2-1 lead into singles play.
The Hilltoppers dominated the singles matches, sweeping all six of them without losing a set. Perrin, Gutierrez, Cimorra and Moncayo all posted straight-set wins with
Matt Tully and
Luke Flanagan following suit to complete the romp.
West Liberty closes out its regular season slate at home on Wednesday with a 2 p.m. match against Tiffin (Ohio).
