No. 12 Bobcats Take Pair From WLU Softball

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 BUCKHANNON, W.Va. – The West Liberty University softball team put up a good fight here Fridayafternoon but it wasn't enough to keep No. 12-ranked West Virginia Wesleyan from sweeping a doubleheader at Culpepper Field.
Coach Herb Minch's Hilltoppers (11-21, 5-15) dropped a 5-3 decision in the first game and the Bobcats (28-6, 16-4) held on for an 8-4 win in the finale.
In the opener, West Liberty carried a 3-1 lead into the middle innings only to see the Bobcats scratch out a single run in the bottom of the fourth and add three more in the fifth to notch the come-from-behind win.
Kelsi Johnson had a clutch 2-run single for WLU in the top of the third and Savannah Sieger added a double in a losing cause.
The hosts opened up a 4-0 lead after the first two innings of the second game and the Hilltoppers weren't able to claw their way back.
Johnson drove in three more runs with a 2-run double and a sacrifice fly while Nicole Chris singled twice and chased home a run for the Black and Gold.
West Liberty heads to Glenville on Saturday for an 11 a.m. twinbill against the Pioneers.
