Hilltopper Men Shut Out Augustana (S.D.)

HILTON HEAD, S.C. - The West Liberty University men's tennis team flexed its regionally-ranked muscles here Tuesday night, rolling to a 9-0 blanking of Augustana (S.D.).
Coach Sam McCullough's Hilltoppers got things started by sweeping the three doubles matches. Andy Ponder and Matt Tully pulled out a tough 8-6 win at No. 1 doubles but WLU didn't lose a game at No. 2 or No. 3 doubles and the rout was on.
Ponder, Tully, Baptiste Perrin, Santiago Gutierrez, Camilo Moncayo and Luke Flanagan all posted straight-set victories in singles play to finish off the win for the Black and Gold.
The West Liberty men will look to step up to a stiff challenge on Wednesday when they take on NCAA Division I Southern Mississippi in a noon match.
