WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – The West Liberty University women's volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to Shepherd Saturday afternoon at the ASRC.
Coach Kayla Mull's Hilltoppers (16-12, 7-6) got off to a slow start with a 25-17 setback in the first game and found themselves on a 2-0 hole after a nail-biting 26-24 setback in the second set. The Rams (18-6, 6-4) closed out the match with a 25-21 victory in the third game.
Olivia Baumhoer had a team-high 10 kills for the Black and Gold while twins
Amanda Leonard and
Stephanie Leonard combined for 11 kills and 9 blocks.
Raimey Benson also had 6 kills in a losing cause while
Sydney Scherer led all players with a match-high 7 blocks.
Renee Lemke led West Liberty with 16 assists while
Kailee Cunningham and
Mackenzie Sims finished with 15 and 11 digs, respectively.
The Black and Gold will try to bounce back on Friday when they head south for a 5 p.m. match at Concord.
