WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – The West Liberty University volleyball team celebrated Senior Day in style here Saturday afternoon, running away to a 3-0 sweep of West Virginia State in Mountain East Conference action at the ASRC.
Coach Kayla Mull's Hilltoppers (15-10, 6-4) took control from the start with a 25-12 blowout win in the opening set and went on to close out the Yellow Jackets (11-12, 3-6) by scores of 25-21 and 25-22 in the final two sets.
Stephanie Leonard led all players with 9 kills for the Black and Gold while
Raimey Benson added 8 kills and
Sydney Scherer put down 7 kills to go along with a match-high 6 blocks.
Kendall Souder and
Amanda Leonard finished with 13 and 11 assists, respectively, while
Kailee Cunningham finished with a team-high 14 digs.
Scherer and fellow senior
Erin Jans were honored along with their parents during Senior Day festivities prior to the match.
The West Liberty women hit the road on Tuesday for a 6 p.m. match at Notre Dame.
