Box Score BUCKHANNON, W.Va. – The West Liberty University women's volleyball team scored the first eight points of the match and never looked back in blitzing West Virginia Wesleyan, 3-0, Friday night at the Rockefeller Center.
Coach Kayla Mull's Hilltoppers (13-9, 4-3) cruised to a 25-15 win after that fast start in the opening set and held off the Bobcats (8-12, 3-3) by a 25-23 count in the second set before sprinting off to a 25-13 romp in the final set to finish off the sweep.
Caitlin Clarke led the way with a double-double for the Black and Gold, sending home 10 kills to go along with a team-high 16 digs.
Raimey Benson led all players with 11 kills while
Sydney Scherer and
Stephanie Leonard combined for 11 kills and 9 blocks.
Kendall Souder just missed a double-double with 15 assists and 9 digs while
Renee Lemke had 14 assists and
Kailee Cunningham finished with 13 digs.
The West Liberty women will be back in action on Tuesday when they travel to Wheeling for a 7 p.m. match with league-leading Wheeling Jesuit.
