West Liberty Volleyball Holds Off UVa-Wise

Box Score WISE, Va. – The West Liberty University women's volleyball team edged UVa-Wise, 3-2, here Friday night in a Mountain East Conference match at the Prior Center.
Coach Kayla Fetsko-Mull's Hilltoppers (12-9, 1-3) spotted the Cavaliers (2-16, 1-2) an early lead when UVa-Wise pulled out a 25-21 win in the opening set. West Liberty seemed to be in complete control after rolling to 25-15 and 25-8 routs in the next two sets but the hosts held on for a 25-21 nod in the fourth set and battled WLU to the wire before falling, 15-13, in the decisive fifth set.
Stephanie Leonard had 12 kills and 12 digs for the Hilltoppers while Raimey Benson added 9 kills, 4 blocks and 2 service aces. Amanda Leonard had a strong match with 9 kills, 24 assists and 10 digs while Miranda Garmenn added 4 aces and 16 assists to go along with Kailee Cunningham's match-high 30 digs.
West Liberty returns home to host Bluefield State in a non-conference match on Tuesday. First serve is set for 6:30 p.m. at the ASRC.
