Hilltopper Spikers Drop Pair in Tournament

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – The West Liberty University volleyball team dropped a pair of matches here Fridayafternoon as the MEC/PSAC Challenge got under way at the ASRC.
Seton Hill (7-4) handed Coach Kayla Fetsko-Mull's Hilltoppers (7-5) a 3-0 loss in their first match of the day with Clarion (5-4) pulling out a 3-0 decision in the finale.
West Liberty showcased a balanced attack against the Griffins as Stephanie Leonard led the way with 7 kills while Sydney Scherer, Olivia Baumhoer and Raimey Benson chimed in with 6 kills each. Miranda Garmenn and Katie Cornelius finished with 17 and 13 assists, respectively, while Kailee Cunningham came up with 19 digs.
Leonard and Benson had 5 kills each in the Clarion match while Scherer had 4 kills and a match-high 7 blocks. Cornelius led WLU with a dozen assists while Cunningham topped the Toppers with 18 digs.
The Hilltoppers will be back on the ASRC court Saturday at 9 a.m. to take on Mercyhurst before closing out the tournament with a 3 p.m. match against Slippery Rock.
