TAMPA, Fla. – The West Liberty University men's tennis team had no trouble with West Chester (Pa.) here Sunday, coasting to a 9-0 shutout win on its spring break trip to Florida.
Santiago Gutierrez and
Andrew Ponder teamed up for an 8-2 win at No. 1 doubles and followed that up with straight-set victories at No. 2 and No. 3 singles, respectively.
Baptiste Perrin and
Martin Moncayo pitched an 8-0 shutout at No. 2 doubles before picking up straight-set singles wins of their own. Perrin prevailed at No. 1 singles while Moncayo won his No. 4 singles match.
Matt Tully teamed with
Pablo Cimorra for an 8-3 win at No. 3 doubles before breezing to a 6-1 6-1 nod at No. 5 singles.
Luke Flanagan picked up the final point for WLU with a 6-1 6-1 win of his own at No. 6 singles.
Based in Tampa for the week, the Hilltoppers were scheduled to take on Ferris State (Mich.) Tuesday.
