WHEELING, W.Va. – The defending Mountain East Conference champion West Liberty University men's tennis team cruised to a 5-2 victory against West Virginia Wesleyan Sunday afternoon on the indoor courts at the Wheeling Park Tennis Complex.

Sam McCullough's Hilltoppers (7-2, 2-0) grabbed an early advantage against the Bobcats (12-2, 3-1) by taking two of the three doubles matches and then wrapped things up quickly with wins at the top three singles spots. Two of the singles matches were left unfinished once WLU had clinched the match.
Santiago Gutierrez and Andy Ponder had a big day foir the Black and Gold, teaming up for an 8-4 win at No. 1 doubles and following that up with victories at Nos. 2 and 3 singles, respectively.
Baptiste Perrin claimed a straight-set win at No. 1 singles and joined
Martin Moncayo for an 8-6 triumph at No. 2 doubles.
West Liberty returns to action on Thursday with a 4 p.m. match at Fairmont State.
