Box Score 2 WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – The West Liberty University softball team dropped both ends of a Mountain East Conference doubleheader to West Virginia State Friday afternoon at the WLU Softball Complex.
Coach Jim Bacca's Hilltoppers (6-18, 0-4) came out on the short end of 6-5 and 10-2 counts against the visiting Yellowjackets (18-7, 3-1). In the opener, the Hilltoppers came all the way back from a 5-0 deficit with a five-run rally in the bottom of the sixth only to see the Yellowjackets push across the game-winner in the top of the seventh.
All nine West Liberty batters had a hit in the first game. Nicole Chris drove in two runs with a single while Nicki Mihalik and Savannah Sieger had RBI base knocks. Damia Mogielski doubled and scored a run. In the second game, State jumped out early with five runs in the top of the first. West Liberty got a couple of runs back in the bottom of the second but the Yellowjackets put the game on ice with five more runs in the fourth.
