GLENVILLE, W.Va. – Liz Flowers splashed home two free throws with 4.9 seconds left in overtime here Saturday to give the No. 16-ranked West Liberty women a thrilling 101-100 victory at Glenville State.
Coach Lynn Ullom's Hilltoppers (23-3, 18-2) had needed a clutch free throw from Kiki Simpson with less than a second remaining in regulation to force the game into overtime and held the Pioneers (17-9, 13-7) scoreless over the final 1:52 of overtime to pull out the win.
Paris McLeod, who led all scorers with a career-high 37 points, hit a driving layup for a 98-94 Glenville lead with2:06 to go in overtime and then gave the hosts their largest lead of the day, 100-94, when she intercepted a pass at midcourt and sailed in for an uncontested layup.
Kailee Howe answered with a stop-and-pop jumper for WLU, cutting the margin to 100-96 with 1:32 to go and then drained a clutch 3-pointer to make it 100-99 with just under a minute remaining.
