7th Straight MEC Win for Surging Lady Hilltoppers

Box Score WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – The West Liberty University women's volleyball team won its seventh straight Mountain East Conference match here Wednesday night, moving into a tie for third place in the MEC standings with a thrilling 3-2 win against Urbana at the ASRC.
Coach Kayla Mull's Hilltoppers (21-12, 9-5) found themselves on the short end of a 2-1 count heading into the fourth set but stayed alive with a 25-19 win before putting together a 7-1 run midway through the fifth set to close out the Blue Knights (18-13, 8-6) by a 15-10 score.
Amanda Leonard had a triple-double with 14 kills, 28 assists and 11 digs to go along with 5 blocks for the Black and Gold. Raimey Benson had a team-high 15 kills while Stephanie Leonard added 13 kills and 6 blocks.
Caitlin Clarke notched a double-double with 10 kills and a team-high 13 digs while Sydney Scherer weighed in with 9 kills and a match-high 6 blocks. Miranda Garmenn just missed a double-double with a team-high 29 assists and 9 digs.
The Hilltoppers take their 7-match league winning streak on the road Fridayfor a 7 p.m. against the University of Charleston.
