Lady Hilltoppers Fall in Non-Conference Test

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The West Liberty University women's volleyball team stepped out of Mountain East Conference play Tuesday night and came away on the short end of a 3-1 tally in a road match at Slippery Rock.
Coach Kayla Mull's Hilltoppers (19-12) dug themselves into an early hole as The Rock (11-16) claimed the first two sets by scores of 25-18 and 25-19. West Liberty rebounded with a 25-16 romp in the third set but a late Slippery Rock surge gave the hosts a 25-17 nod in the fourth and final set.
Amanda Leonard had a triple-double in a losing cause for the Black and Gold, slamming down a team-high 14 kills to go along with 17 assists and 10 digs. Raimey Benson had 7 kills, an ace and 2 blocks while Caitlyn Clarke checked in with 7 kills and 20 digs. Miranda Garmenn had a team-high 20 assists and Kailee Cunningham added 31 digs.
The Hilltoppers return to MEC action on Friday when they host Notre Dame (Ohio) in a 6 p.m. match at the ASRC.
