No. 4 Cardinals Take Down WLU Volleyball

Box Score WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – The West Liberty University women's volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to No. 4-ranked Wheeling Jesuit Wednesday night at the ASRC.
Coach Kayla Fetsko-Mull's Hilltoppers (14-11, 2-5) got off to a slow start as the Cardinals (20-2, 7-0) raced off to a 25-14 win in the opening set. West Liberty grabbed an early lead in the second set but couldn't hold off the nationally-ranked visitors, who rallied for a 25-16 nod before closing out the match with a 25-14 win in the third and final set.
Stephanie Leonard led WLU with 8 kills while Sydney Scherer and Raimey Benson finished with 7 and 6 kills, respectively. Amanda Leonard had a busy night with 4 kills, 11 assists and 7 digs. Miranda Garmenn topped the 'Toppers with 16 assists and Kailee Cunningham had a dozen digs.
The Hilltoppers return to the ASRC for a Friday night doubleheader. West Liberty hosts Glenville State in a 5 p.m. match before taking on West Virginia Wesleyan in a 7 p.m. match.
