Box Score 4 PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The West Liberty University women's volleyball team got its season off to a solid start with a pair of wins and Hilltopper standout
Courtney Pyeritz became the school's career digs leader at this weekend's Battle of the Boulevard Tournament hosted by Point Park University.
Coach Kayla Fetsko-Mull's Hilltoppers (2-2) opened the event with a 3-0 shutout of Lawrence Tech on Friday morning before dropping a 3-0 deci
sion to the host Pioneers that afternoon. West Liberty rebounded with a thrilling 3-2 win against Taylor University on Saturday before closing out the weekend with a 3-1 loss to Indiana-East.
Pyeritz, a senior libero from Pittsburgh, had double-figure digs in all four matches and finished with 57 digs for the tournament. That pushed her career total to 1,546 – two more than the previous record of 1,544 set by Sheri Shade from 1997-2000.
In the opening win against Lawrence Tech,
Stephanie Leonard led the Black and Gold with 8 kills while
Amanda Leonard added 6 kills and 15 assists.
Miranda Garmenn had a team-high 16 assists while Pyeritz had 10 digs.
Raimey Benson had 10 kills and 4 blocks to pace the Hilltoppers in Saturday's loss to Point Park.

Stephanie Leonard each had 7 kills with
Amanda Leonard also posting a dozen assists. Garmenn once again led the team with 14 assists while Pyeritz was charted with 12 digs.
West Liberty outlasted Taylor in the match of the tournament on Saturday, bouncing back from a 2-0 deficit to take three straight sets and win the match.
Stephanie Leonard led all players with 14 kills while
Alexis Boyd added 13 kills and
Michaela Hawkins had 10 kills and 3 blocks.
Amanda Leonard had a double-double with 25 assists and 12 digs. Garmenn also had 25 assists while Pyeritz once more led the team with 15 digs.
Amanda Leonard just missed a triple-double in Saturday's loss to Indiana-East, finishing with 9 kills, 10 assists and 19 digs.
Stephanie Leonard had 9 kills and 10 digs while
Sydney Scherer had 8 kills, 3 blocks and a service ace. Garmenn had a team-high 20 assists while Pyeritz was charted with 20 digs.
The Hilltoppers head south on Friday to compete in the Eckerd College Classic at St. Petersburg, Fla.
