Box Score 2 WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – The West Liberty University softball team's four-game winning streak was snappedSunday as Notre Dame (Ohio) took a pair of Mountain East Conference games from WLU by scores of 4-1 and 6-0.
Both teams sported pink uniforms as a tribute to Cancer Awareness Day at the West Liberty Softball Complex.
Pitching was the name of the game for the Falcons (16-20, 10-8) as Coach Jim Bacca's Hilltoppers (12-24, 4-12) were held to just one run and one extra-base hit in 14 innings of play. In the opener, Notre Dame's Anna Myers broke open a tight pitcher's duel with a 2-out, 2-run double in the top of the fifth to take a 3-0 lead. Kylee Ensign singled home what proved to be West Liberty's only run of the game in the bottom of the frame but it was too little, too late. West Liberty couldn't break through against NDC ace Ashley Hall in the second game. Hall scattered five singles while striking out 8 and issuing only one walk. Zeiger had another multi-hit game with two singles for the Hilltoppers
