Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 URBANA, Ohio – The West Liberty University softball team came out on the short end of two more one-run decisions here Sunday afternoon, falling by scores of 4-3 and 10-9 in a Mountain East Conference doubleheader at Urbana.
    The losses dropped the Hilltoppers' record to a deceptive 7-15 and 0-4 in the MEC with six of those losses coming by one-run margins. The Blue Knights improved to 7-12 overall and 2-2 in the league.
    In the opener, the hosts built a 4-0 lead and a WLU comeback came up just short. Kelsi Johnson bashed out two doubles and a single to drive in a run for the Hilltoppers while Julie Tenney had a pair of hits and Nicole Chris added an RBI double.
    The second game was a wild affair from the start with West Liberty scoring 3 runs in the top of the first and Urbana answering with 4 runs in the bottom of the frame.
    The Hilltoppers tacked on a single tally in the third and added four more runs in the fifth to open up an 8-4 lead but the Blue Knights scored twice in the bottom of the fifth to cut the deficit in half and pushed four more runs across the plate in the bottom of the sixth to take a 10-8 lead into the seventh.
    West Liberty didn't go quietly as Savanna Seiger led off the final frame with a solo home run and Nicole Chris followed with a single to put the tying run on base. A foul popup and a double play on a comebacker to the mound allowed Urbana to close out the win.
    Seiger took the pitching loss despite posting a career-high 13 strikeouts but had a huge game at the plate, chasing home 4 runs with 2 home runs and a single. Chris had a double and 2 singles while Allyson Johnson doubled twice and knocked in a run. Kelsi Johnson added a home run and a single, Charley Troggio picked up 2 RBIs with a pair of singles and Damia Mogielski also had 2 base knocks.
