INSTITUTE, W.Va. – The West Liberty University men's tennis team got its Mountain East Conference schedule off to a flying start here Saturday afternoon with a 9-0 shutout of West Virginia State.
Coach
Sam McCullough's Hilltoppers dominated the match from start to finish, losing a total of just six games in sweeping the three doubles and six singles matches.
Andy Ponder,
Santiago Gutierrez, Baptiste Perrin,
Martin Moncayo,
Hayden Blazer and
Luke Flanagan recorded singles wins for the Black and Gold.
Ponder and Gutierrez teamed up for the win at No. 1 doubles with Moncayo and Perrin prevailing at No. 2 doubles.
Matt Tully and
Pablo Cimorra rolled to an 8-0 win at No. 3 doubles.
The Hilltoppers return to action on Friday when they host Concord in a 3:30 p.m. match at the Edgar Martin Tennis Complex.
