Shepherd Outlasts WLU Volleyball

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – The West Liberty University volleyball team dropped a 3-1 decision to Shepherd Saturday afternoon in Mountain East Conference action at the Butcher Center.

The Rams (9-9, 4-2) took control early by winning the first two sets. Coach Kayla Fetsko-Mull's Hilltoppers (9-12, 2-4) stayed alive with a 25-22 win in the third set only to see the hosts close things out by a 25-19 score in the fourth set.

Raimey Benson had 13 kills for the Black and Gold while Amanda Leonard added 11 kills and 29 assists. Alexis Boyd played well with 10 kills and 16 digs while Stephanie Leonard chipped in with 7 kills and 3 blocks. Courtney Pyeritz had a match-high 19 digs in a losing cause.

The West Liberty women travel to West Virginia Wesleyan on Tuesday for a 7 p.m. match.
