Box Score SALEM, Va. – Fairmont State broke open a close game with a five-run uprising in the bottom of the fifth here Friday en route to a 9-1 victory against West Liberty in a Mountain East Conference Softball
Tournament elimination game at the Moyer Sports Complex.
The Hilltoppers didn't let their season come to an end without a fight.
After the No. 3-seeded Falcons pushed a run across in the bottom of the first, West Liberty's
Allyson Johnson launched a solo home run over the left field fence in the top of the second to knot the score at 1-1.
Fairmont State pushed back ahead, 3-1, with two more runs in the bottom of the second but the teams traded zeros after that before the Falcons' big rally in the fifth.
The Falcons stayed alive to take on Glenville State later today in another elimination game.
