Box Score 2 WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – The West Liberty University softball team was swept by Salem International, 2-1 and 5-1,Wednesday afternoon in a non-conference doubleheader at the WLU Softball Complex.
In the opener, Salem took a 2-0 lead into the bottom of the fourth but Jamie Burke cut that lead in half with a one-out solo home run. In the second game, West Liberty worked a double-steal to forge a 1-1 tie in the bottom of the third but the visitors put together back-to-back 2-run innings in the fourth and fifth to complete the sweep.
The Hilltoppers were held to just three hits but all three went for extra bases. Ensign tripled to put an exclamation point on a strong afternoon while Maggie Starr and Damia Mogielski each had a double. SOFTBALL
