Box Score WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – The West Liberty University women's volleyball team picked up an impressive non-conference win Wednesday night, knocking off defending Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference champion Pitt-Johnstown by a 3-1 count at the ASRC.
Coach Kayla Fetsko's Hilltoppers (7-14) gutted out a pair of come-from-behind wins in the first two sets by scores of 26-24 and 27-25. The Mountain Lions (10-9) stayed alive with a 25-18 nod in the third set only to see West Liberty close out the match in impressive fashion with a 25-14 victory. Defense led the way for the Hilltoppers, who were charted with a season-high 16 blocks. Megan Lawless had a huge match with 11 kills, 21 assists and 16 digs while Alexis Boyd added a match-high 14 kills to go along with 23 digs and 3 blocks. The West Liberty women return to MEC action on Friday with a 6 p.m. match at Urbana.
