Box Score BUCKHANNON, W.Va. – Liz Flowers poured in a career-high 37 points and the West Liberty University women's basketball team scored 23 points in the last 6  minutes Saturday afternoon to pull away to 91-79 victory at West Virginia Wesleyan.
Flowers knocked down 4 of her career-high 7 3-point field goals in the final 10 minutes to help Coach Lynn Ullom's Hilltoppers (7-7, 4-4) put the pesky Bobcats (2-10, 0-8) away in a see-saw game that saw 6 ties and 13 lead changes.
It was a Flowers 3-pointer that put West Liberty ahead for good and ignited the game-ending surge.
Trailing 69-68 with less than 6 minutes remaining, Flowers took a feed in the corner from Emily Bucon and drained a 3-pointer to put the Hilltoppers up, 70-68, with 5:38 to go.
Austin Cunningham went 1-for-2 from the line for Wesleyan but Bucon responded with a 3-pointer of her own and West Liberty never looked back.
Flowers just missed a double-double with 9 rebounds to go along with her 37 points. Bucon added 18 points and 5 assists off the bench while Howe chipped in with 8 points, a game-high 7 assists and 5 rebounds. Bri Kamarec and Jasmin Kiley had 9 points each while Kiki Simpson battled foul trouble for much of the second half but still finished with 6 points and a game-high 12 rebounds.
Allie Browne's 23 points paced four double-digit scorers for the Bobcats.
The Hilltoppers face a big test at home on Monday when they host No. 12-ranked Glenville State. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m. at the ASRC.
