Box Score 2 WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – The West Liberty University women's volleyball team closed out the MEC-PSAC Crossover event on Saturday with a pair of impressive wins at the ASRC.
Coach Kayla Fetsko's Hilltoppers (5-6) opened with a 3-2 win against Slippery Rock (5-6) in a morning match before coming back in the afternoon to hand Kutztown (6-5) a 3-1 setback.
In the first match, West Liberty watched The Rock take two of the first three games before bouncing back with a 25-22 win in Game Four and dominating the tiebreaker by a 15-8 count.
Against Kutztown, the Hilltoppers swept the first two games by identical 25-19 scores. Kutztown stayed alive with a 25-17 romp in the third game but West Liberty closed things out with a 25-21 nod in game four.
Ziegler and Bertie each had 16 kills with Bertie adding an ace and 3 blocks to her stat line. Miller had another big showing with 12 kills, an ace and 6 blocks while Nicole Sadecky added 7 kills, 3 aces and 3 blocks. Byrge and Brittany Albanese finished with 27 and 20 assists, respectively, while Pyeritz was charted with 21 digs.
The Hilltoppers make the short trek down Route 88 on Tuesday to visit nationally-ranked Wheeling Jesuit in a 5:30 p.m. match.
