Box Score 2 ATHENS, W.Va. – The West Liberty University softball team split a West Virginia Conference doubleheader with Concord on Friday, dropping a 5-0 decision in the opener before rebounding with a 6-2 win in the finale on the Mountain Lions' home diamond.
In the second game, five of Coach
Jim Bacca's Hilltoppers (15-31, 8-16) pounded out two hits each as WLU put together a pair of three-run innings to salvage the split.
Maggie Starr had a triple and a single while Kayln Hanby,
Stacy Sumner,
Leanna McMillen and Jamie Burke all smacked out two singles and drove in a run.
The first game was all Concord (19-30, 7-17) as the Mountain Lions scored in four of the first five innings while holding West Liberty to just two singles.
The Hilltoppers close out the regular season on Saturday with a 1 p.m. doubleheader at Bluefield State.
