Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3 | Box Score 4 CLERMONT, Fla. – The West Liberty University women's softball team broke out the heavy artillery here Sunday in winning a pair of games at the NTC Complex Tournament.
    Coach Jim Bacca's Hilltoppers hammered American International (Mass.), 15-6, before blasting St. Thomas Aquinas (N.Y.), 10-2, in a pair of mercy rule-shortened 5-inning blowouts.
    After spotting AIC an early 3-0 lead in the first game, West Liberty batted around in the top of the second to take a 7-3 lead. The Hilltoppers added 2 more runs in the third inning before putting the game out of reach with 5 runs in the top of the fourth.
    Jennifer Young and Maggie Starr keyed a 13-hit barrage for the winners. Young chased home 2 runs with a pair of doubles and a single while Starr finished with 3 singles and 3 RBIs. Stacy Sumner chipped in with 2 singles and an RBI, Janea Cockrell added a 2-run home run, Felicia Hulslander had a 2-run single and Jamie Burke contributed a run-scoring base knock.
    In the second game, West Liberty snapped a 1-1 deadlock with 3 runs in the bottom of the fourth before Young's 3-run homer highlighted a 6-run fourth inning that put the game on ice.
    Starr had another 3-hit game with a double and 2 singles while Leanna McMillen drove in 3 runs with a pair of singles. Young finished with 4 RBIs, drawing a bases-loaded walk to go along with her 3-run blast, while Hulslander had a single and a solo home run.
    The Hilltoppers will try to build on their momentum Monday morning with games against Mercy (N.Y.) and St. Michael's (Vt.).
