Box Score     JOHNSTOWN, Pa. – Pitt-Johnstown scoring ace Janna Stroup knocked in a pair of first-half goals and the West Liberty University women's soccer team couldn't solve UPJ keeper Timi Shiock here Wednesday afternoon as the Hilltoppers came out on the short end of a 2-0 score.
Stroup, the league's leading scorer and the reigning WVIAC Player of the Week, opened the scoring midway through the first half with a 10-yard rocket past West Liberty (2-6, 1-4) netminder Rachel Coles. Stroup added an insurance tally, her 12th on the young season, in the 33rd minute when she drove home a rebound.
Coach Barry Christmas's Hilltoppers were able to pressure the Mountain Cats (7-2, 3-1) on several occasions but couldn't get a ball past Shiock, who was charted with 7 saves in posting her third shutout of the year.
Sarah Evans led West Liberty with 5 shots, 3 of them on frame, while Coles and Hannah Judkins combined for 11 saves in net.
The Hilltoppers step out of conference on Saturday with a 7 p.m. game at Carlow (Pa.).
