Lady Hilltoppers Take Two at Glenville

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 GLENVILLE, W.Va. –The West Liberty University softball team continued its late-season drive on Tuesday by sweeping a West Virginia Conference twinbill at Glenville State by scores of 5-1 and 6-3.
    Coach Jim Bacca's Hilltoppers (12-37, 7-15) picked up their fourth win in the last six games while handing the Pioneers (13-28, 8-13) their sixth consecutive loss.
    In the first game, Angela Johnson and Becky Fortuna combined on a four-hitter in the circle for West Liberty while their Hilltopper teammates took care of business at the plate. Maggie Starr drove in three runs with a home run and single while Irene Fadul drove in a run with a double and single. Stacey Sumner also launched a solo home run.
    The Hilltoppers took command early in the second game, scoring four runs in the top of the first and never looking back. Julianne Wanda hammered a two-run homer while Leanna McMillen and Felicia Hulslander each weighed in with a double and single. Starr contributed a double to the cause while Sara Emerich went the distance in the circle for a complete-game win.
    West Liberty returns home to host Concord on Friday in a 3 p.m. doubleheader at the WLU Sports Complex.
