BUCKHANNON, W.Va. –The West Liberty University softball team lost both ends of a West Virginia Conference doubleheader at league-leading West Virginia Wesleyan on Sunday, falling by scores of 1-0 and 10-0.
Sara Emerich took the hard-luck loss for the Hilltoppers (10-37, 5-15) in the opener despite giving up just three hits in a route-going performance.
The Bobcats (30-10, 15-3) put two of their three hits – a double and a single – together in the bottom of the sixth to plate the game's only run.
Julianne Wanda had two of West Liberty's five singles.
In the second game, Wesleyan jumped on the Hilltoppers for five runs in the bottom of the second and added five more in the bottom of the fourth to put the game out of reach. Five different players had one hit each for West Liberty.
The Hilltoppers travel to Glenville State on Tuesday for a 3 p.m. twinbill.
