Box Score 1 REIDVILLE, S.C. – Young Harris (Ga.) College pushed across a single tally with 2 out in the bottom of the first and mound ace Katie-Jo Gentry made it stand up as the West Liberty softball team dropped a 1-0 decision to the Mountain Lions Saturday afternoon at Tyger River Park.
    The Hilltoppers wrapped up Saturday's slate at the Mid-South Classic with a 5-4 loss to Lincoln Memorial (Tenn.) under the lights.
    In the first game, Gentry struck out 13 Hilltoppers (1-5) while scattering four hits in outdueling West Liberty hurler Angela Johnson on the second day of the Mid-South Classic.
    Johnson was saddled with the hard-luck loss despite keeping WLU in the game by blanking Young Harris (10-9) on three hits over the final six innings.
    Felicia Hulslander led West Liberty at the plate with a single and double. Equitia Sayles and Stacey Sumner each had singles but the Hilltoppers were unable to get a runner past second base against the hard-throwing Gentry.
    In the nightcap, the Railsplitters (8-10) snapped a 4-4 tie with a single run in the top of the seventh to eke out the win against the hard-luck Hilltoppers.
    Jennifer Young drove in three of West Liberty's runs with a single and double while Jamie Burke also doubled. Kali Miller and Janea Cockrell singled in a losing cause while Becky Fortuna went the distance in the circle, striking out 9 while yielding only one base on balls.
    The Mid-South Classic concludes Sunday afternoon with West Liberty taking on Tusculum (Tenn.) and Newberry (S.C.).
