Box Score CHARLESTON, W.Va. – One of West Liberty's best volleyball seasons in more than a decade came to an
end here Monday night when the Hilltoppers dropped a West Virginia Conference Tournament first-
round match at the University of Charleston.
West Liberty (14-16) was never able to find a rhythm as the host Golden Eagles (15-15) swept to a
straight-set win by scores of 25-15, 25-19 and 25-12.
Rachel Zeigler led the Hilltoppers on Monday with 7 kills while Michaela Hawkins, Nikki Sadecky and
Anne Edwards were all charted with 5 kills. Sadecky also had a team-high 12 digs while Chelsea Byrge
topped the 'Toppers with 19 assists.
The disappointing setback wrote the final chapter on an impressive debut season for first-year head
coach Kayla Fetsko.
Handed the reins less than two weeks before the Hilltoppers' opening match in August, Fetsko just
missed leading the Black and Gold to their first winning season in more than two decades.
Even so, the 14 wins were the most by a West Liberty team since the 2000 WLU squad posted a 21-21
mark and laid a solid groundwork for the future.
