WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – The West Liberty University women's volleyball team dropped a 3-1 decision to West Virginia Wesleyan Tuesday night at the ASRC.
Coach Brooke Turner's Hilltoppers (4-6, 1-1) edged the Bobcats (5-4, 1-0) by a 25-23 count in the opening game but the visitors rebounded to square the match with a 25-18 nod in Game Two. The next two games went down to the wire but Wesleyan prevailed by scores of 27-25 and 25-23 to earn the victory.
Melissa Pierzchala led West Liberty with a double-double of 10 kills and 10 digs. Anne Edwards and Rachel Ziegler added 8 and 7 kills, respectively, while Heather Tolson added 6 kills and 15 assists. Chelsea Byrge charted 23 assists while Jennifer Torrence and Haylee Strause finished with 16 and 14 digs, respectively.
The Hilltoppers jump right back into action Thursday night when they hit the road for a 7 p.m. match at West Virginia State.
