CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The University of Charleston picked up its first West Virginia Conference win of the season Saturday afternoon by pulling out a hard-fought 3-0 decision against visiting West Liberty at Eddie King Gym.
Coach Brooke Turner's Lady Hilltoppers (5-9, 2-3) battled the Golden Eagles (7-13, 1-2) to the wire in all three games only to fall short each time by identical 25-20 scores.
Anne Edwards led West Liberty at the net with 10 kills and 3 blocks while Chelsea Byrge chipped in with 16 assists and Haylee Strause kept several rallies going with 14 digs.
The Hilltoppers return to the friendly confines of the ASRC Tuesday night for a 6 p.m. match against Glenville State.
