GREENSBURG, Pa. – A streaking Seton Hill squad proved to be too hot for the West Liberty University volleyball team to handle Wednesday night as the Griffins rolled to a 3-0 victory against the visiting Hilltoppers in West Virginia Conference action at the McKenna Center.
Seton Hill (21-8, 7-1), which prevailed by scores of 25-12, 25-14 and 25-21, has won 12 of its last 14 matches and is currently riding a streak of six consecutive 3-0 sweeps.
West Liberty (7-13, 3-7) got a strong performance from
Emily Mellie, who put away 8 kills and added a pair of blocks.
Chelsea Byrge had 9 assists and 10 digs while
Jennifer Torrence chipped in with 13 digs.
Gabbie Davis also recorded 9 assists in a losing cause.
Coach Brooke Turner's Hilltoppers will host Pitt-Johnstown on Tuesday in a 7 p.m. match at the ASRC.
The Pitt-Johnstown match has been designated as a “Dig For The Cure” event in support of Kylie Clark, a member of the West Liberty University softball team who is battling brain cancer. Proceeds from donations, T-shirt sales and raffles at the match will go to help Kylie in her battle.
