WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – A short turnaround proved too much of a challenge for the West Liberty University volleyball team as Charleston swept a WVIAC match from the host Hilltoppers Saturday afternoon at the ASRC.

Coach Brooke Turner's hosts were back on the court less than 24 hours after winning their WVIAC opener with a 3-0 sweep of West Virginia State on Friday night. The Golden Eagles (5-5, 1-0) hadn't played since Wednesday and took Saturday's match by scores of 25-16, 25-21 and 25-20.

Melissa Pierzchala had another strong performance for West Liberty, hammering home a team-high 9 kills and delivering 17 digs. Rachel Ziegler added 7 kills while Jennifer Torrence was also charted with 17 digs.

Brittany Albanese and Abby McCreery led the Hilltoppers with 13 and 12 assists, respectively.

West Liberty has Sunday off but hits the road Monday night for a 7 p.m. match at Ohio Valley University. It will be the Hilltoppers' third match in four days.
