WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – The West Liberty University volleyball team made short work of West Virginia State Friday night in a mutual West Virginia Conference opener at the ASRC.
Coach Brooke Turner's Hilltoppers swept the Yellow Jackets in three straight games by scores of 25-18, 25-21 and 25-12. West Liberty improved to 6-4 on the season with the impressive win while State's record fell to 0-10.
Melissa Pierachala returned from a minor injury to lead the Hilltoppers with 10 kills. Abby McCreery added 14 assists and 5 service aces while Brittany Albanese added 11 assists and 8 digs. Jennifer Torrence had a team-high 12 digs.
West Liberty will be right back in action Saturday afternoon when the Hilltoppers host perennial WVIAC power Charleston in a 2 p.m. match at the ASRC.
