WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – The West Liberty University volleyball team celebrated Senior Night with a thrilling 3-2 come-from-behind victory against Glenville State at the ASRC on Tuesday.
Coach Brooke Turner's Hilltoppers (11-15, 5-8) lost two of the first three games to the visiting Pioneers (3-19, 2-9) but bounced back with an impressive 25-16 win in Game Four before gutting out a 22-20 decision in the fifth and final game.
Anne Edwards led West Liberty with 16 kills while Emily Mellie added a dozen kills, 5 blocks and a pair of service aces. Mo Pierzchala also charted 12 kills while Abby McCreery and Brittany Albanese had 25 and 17 assists, respectively. Jennifer Torrence led all players with 13 digs.
McCreery (Bolivar, Ohio) and fellow senior Amie Riethmiller (Martins Ferry, Ohio) were honored in a Senior Night ceremony.
West Liberty closes out the regular season at home on Wednesday with a 7 p.m. match against Davis & Elkins. It's a makeup match from earlier in the season.
