WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – The West Liberty University volleyball team dropped its sixth straight match Friday night, falling by a 3-1 count to Seton Hill in West Virginia Conference action at the ASRC.
The visiting Griffins (8-6, 6-3) won the first two games to grab an early advantage only to see the Hilltoppers (8-14, 2-7) rebound with a dominating 25-13 win in Game Three. West Liberty couldn't maintain the momentum, however, and Seton Hill closed out the night with a 25-17 victory in Game Four to run its season-best winning streak to four matches.
Melissa Pierzchala and Brittany Albanese each had double-doubles for Coach Brooke Turner's hosts. Pierzchala was charted with 10 kills and a dozen digs while Albanese came up with 17 assists and 13 digs.
Emily Mellie backed Pierzchala on the attack with 9 kills while Anne Edwards and Rachel Ziegler pounded down 8 each. Abby McCreery matched Albanese with 17 assists while Jennifer Torrence weighed in with 11 digs.
The Hilltoppers step out of conference play on Saturday to host a triangular against Point Park (Pa.) and Urbana (Ohio). The first match – featuring WLU and Point Park – is set for a 10 a.m. start.
