Zach Amedro

Two-time NCAA Division II All-American Zach Amedro begins his 5th year as West Liberty’s quarterback coach with quite an impressive resume of personal and coaching accomplishments.
The highlight of Amedro’s first four seasons on the WLU sidelines came when he helped Dakota Conwell make the transition from an NCAA Division I linebacker at the University of Arizona to a 3-time All-MEC quarterback for the Hilltoppers. A quick study, Conwell finished his career ranked No. 2 all-time at West Liberty in total offense, touchdown passes and pass completions – trailing only Amedro.
A native of Moundsville, W.Va., Amedro was an all-state quarterback at John Marshall High School and transferred to West Liberty after sitting out a redshirt year at Appalachian State.
Amedro hit the ground running at WLU, leading the Black and Gold to a 33-12 mark during his four seasons while virtually rewriting the Hilltopper record book. A 2-time WVIAC and Atlantic Region Offensive Player of the Year, Amedro earned back-to-back All-America honors and was runner-up for the Harlon Hill Trophy – the NCAA Division II Heisman – in 2009 and 2010.
When Amedro took off his helmet for the final time, he had set NCAA Division II career records for passing yards (14,733), passing yards per game (334.8 ypg.), 300-yard passing games (30), 300-yard total offense games (29), consecutive 300-yard passing games (14) and consecutive 300-yard total offense games (14). He also ranked No. 2 in career pass completions (1,079), touchdown passes (126), total offense (14,598) and total offense per game (331.8 ypg.).
Zach resides in Wheeling with his wife, Jonni Jo, and their son, Luke.
