Christian Montague scored a career-best 30 points on 11-for-13 shooting including 4-for-4 beyond the arc to help lift the Hilltoppers past Fairmont State in overtime on Saturday to clinch the team's 6th straight MEC Regular Season title. He also had eight rebounds, three steals, two assists, and a block in the win on Saturday. Montague scored 15 first-half points and hit a buzzer-beater three pointer before the break to give WLU a 4-point lead. Then, in overtime Montague opened it with a three-pointer sparking a 7-0 run to start OT for the Black and Gold to take control of the game.
Montague added four assists and eight points in the midweek victory at Frostburg State. On the week, he averaged 19 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals, and had a block in each game as WLU extended its win streak to eight games and captured the number 1 seed for the MEC Tournament.
