Rex Lancaster

 West Liberty University graduate Rex Lancaster was named Assistant Athletic Director on July 29, 2025, following a successful eight-year run as Director of Athletic Operations on the Hilltop. Along with overseeing game day operations for WLU’s 19 intercollegiate sports, Lancaster also provides assistance and support for the university’s sports information and athletic staff in the areas of facility management, branding, department initiatives, website management, game promotions and statistical production.
    Lancaster has worked with SIDEARM Sports on two complete updates and re-designs of the WLU athletic department website, the most recently completed in Spring 2022. He submitted successful bids to host four consecutive Mountain East Conference Wrestling Championships (2020, 2021, 2022 & 2023); the 2019, 2022 & 2024 NCAA Division II Super Region 3 Wrestling Championships; the 2019 NCAA Division II Atlantic Region 1 Softball Championships; the 2020 and 2021 NCAA Division II Atlantic Region Men’s Basketball Championships, the 2023 NCATA National Championships and most recently the NCAA Division II Atlantic/East Men's Golf Championships, serving as Tournament Director for every event.
    Lancaster also provides various technical assistance and support to the Mountain East Conference for the MEC Basketball Tournament in Wheeling, W.Va. and served as the NCAA’s on-site representative for the 2022 NCAA Division II Atlantic Region Baseball Championships in Millersville, Pa. and West Chester, Pa., the 2023 NCAA Division II Super Region 3 Wrestling Championships in Tiffin, Ohio and the 2024 NCAA Division II Atlantic Region Women's Basketball Championships in Fairmont, W.Va. Most recently Lancaster served as the Site Representative for the NCAA Divison II Super Region 1 Football Championships hosted at the University of Charleston. 
    Lancaster was a Sports Information student assistant as an undergraduate at the university. He remained on campus as a Graduate Assistant for Media, Game and Related Operations before moving into his current position. A graduate of nearby Brooke (W.Va.) High School, Lancaster earned a bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education with a concentration in Athletic Coaching Education from WLU while carrying a double-minor in Health and Fitness and Entrepreneurship. Rex and his fiancé , Kylie, reside in Colliers, W.Va. with their two daughters, Elza and Violet.Â
