West Liberty University Athletics

West Liberty University graduate Logan Watson returns for his fifth year as the university’s Athletics Operations Specialist. His responsibilities include providing administrative and technical support to the Director of Athletic Operations and the Sports Information Director, with a special focus on game operations and event management. He also contributes statistical and logistical expertise to the athletic department’s website and statistical programs.

A native of New Martinsville, W.Va., Watson came to West Liberty as a student in 2017 after graduating from Magnolia High School. He earned his Sport Management degree at WLU in 2021 and completed his Master of Business Administration at the university in 2023. He began working as a student assistant in Game Operations during the 2020-21 academic year and was promoted to Athletics Operations Specialist a year later.

Most recently, Watson served as Assistant Tournament Director for the NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Atlantic Regional. He also implemented a centralized social media management tool, reducing the time spent posting graphics by 50% and significantly increasing efficiency for the Sports Information Office and athletic programs. In addition, he contributed to social media content that has been viewed over 850,000 times, generating more than 30,000 reactions. Watson also improved photography operations and integrated videography into the department’s daily workflow.

Previously, Watson was a student assistant with West Virginia University’s Mountaineer Athletic Hospitality operations during the 2019 and 2020 football seasons.
