Courtney Huffman

    Courtney Huffman is in her second stint as West Liberty’s Faculty Athletics Representative, having previously filled that role with distinction from 2006 to 2016.
    A Professor of Dental Hygiene in the College of Sciences, Huffman has been a highly-respected full-time faculty member at the university since 2002.
    In addition to being honored as the 2017 WLU Professor of the Year, an award she also won in 2009 and 2010, Huffman was the recipient of the university's 2010 Faculty Excellence in Teaching Award and was a 2011 inductee to the WLU Liber Society. The Liber Society is the university's ranking women's honorary for excellence and leadership in the classroom, on campus and in the community.
    A 1996 graduate of Waynesburg (Pa.) Central High School, Huffman is a graduate of West Virginia University. At WVU, she received the 2000 Hu-Friedy Golden Scaler Award as the outstanding senior dental hygiene clinician. Huffman earned her master's degree in Dental Hygiene from WVU in 2002.
    All NCAA member institutions are required to have a Faculty Athletic Representative who operates as a liaison between the faculty and athletic department. This individual works closely with the school's administration to help ensure the academic integrity of the athletic department and enhance the student-athlete experience. At West Liberty, the FAR also represents the university on various committees at the Mountain East Conference and NCAA levels.
    Courtney resides in West Liberty with her husband, Dr. Aaron Huffman, an Associate Professor of Education and assistant men's basketball coach at WLU. The couple has three children, Jacob, Jillian and Joshua.
