Brad Forshey was appointed Director of Athletics at West Liberty University in May 2024 after serving as Interim Director of Athletics beginning in the fall of 2023. A lifelong Hilltopper and veteran collegiate athletics administrator, Forshey leads the athletic department, overseeing 21intercollegiate sports programs and nearly 500 student-athletes.
Under Forshey's leadership, West Liberty Athletics has continued its tradition of competitive excellence while enhancing the overall student-athlete experience. His tenure has been highlighted by strategic personnel leadership, including several key coaching and administrative hires, the expansion of athletic opportunities through the addition of women's wrestling, and the successful hosting of multiple NCAA regional and postseason championship events.
During his leadership, West Liberty student-athletes have achieved some of the strongest academic results in department history while maintaining competitive success across multiple sports. He has also championed initiatives that enhance student development, including expanded leadership and professional growth opportunities for student-athletes.
Dedicated to service both on and off campus, Forshey serves on the Board of Directors for the West Liberty Lions Club Family Support Center, supporting initiatives that assist children and families throughout the region. In addition, he has strengthened relationships with alumni, donors, and community partners while helping advance fundraising efforts for Hilltopper Athletics. At the conference level, he serves as Chair of the Mountain East Conference’s Committee of Athletic Administrators, providing leadership on key issues impacting NCAA Division II athletics.
Prior to becoming Director of Athletics, Forshey served as Assistant Athletic Director and Director of NCAA Compliance. Before entering athletic administration, he spent 14 seasons on the West Liberty football coaching staff, serving as Associate Head Coach, Defensive Line Coach, and Director of Football Operations. During that time, 23 of his student-athletes earned All-Conference honors, including three All-Region selections.
A native West Virginian, Forshey was an All-Conference offensive lineman and team captain at Marietta College, where he earned a bachelor's degree in history. He began his coaching career at Williamstown High School before coming to West Liberty, where he has spent the majority of his professional career helping shape the success of Hilltopper Athletics.
Forshey is the proud father of his son, Hunter.Â
