Assistant Coach: Rick Price
A multi-sport standout at West Liberty during his playing days, assistant coach and Physical Education instructor Rick Price has been helping Hilltopper wrestlers reach their full potential on and off the mat for the better part of two decades.
A graduate of Oak Glen (W.Va.) High School, Price came to West Liberty in the late 1960s and immediately began carving out an impressive athletic career. A three-time West Virginia Conference individual champion and a three-time captain of the Hilltopper wrestling team, Price set a career record for winning percentage (57-5-1, .913) which still stands today. In addition to his exploits on the mat, Price also excelled as a runner on the Hilltoppers’ track and cross country squads.
Price, who holds a B.A. from West Liberty and a master’s degree from West Virginia University, coached and taught for several years at Beaver Local (Ohio) High School before returning to the hilltop campus in the early 1990s. He joined Dr. Vince Monseau’s staff as an assistant coach and had a hand in building the Hilltopper mat program to national prominence.
A long-time student favorite as an instructor due to the passion and energy he brings to the classroom, Price resides in the Hammond area of Brooke County with his wife, CheChe. They are the parents of three grown children, Holly, Shannon and Matthew.
